I grew up in the Midwest. I left home as soon as I legally could. I’ve seen desert sands wed to snow-capped peaks. I know people whose lives were taken from them for “something bigger than the self” I have had the honor of being allowed into people’s lives to tell their stories, and I have taken away people’s freedom. These experiences and the lives I have lived to have them are the tinder from which my desire to make art burns.

Clay is a great healer. It centers as much as it is centered. Many of the pursuits in clay that I undertake are rooted in this aspect of the art.
